Course Requirements for Major
Program Requirements: 60 Credit Hours
Essential Foundations: 9 Credit Hours
Integrated Arts: 51 Credit Hours
Essential Core: 30 Credit Hours
- Elective choice of any 10 studio art courses offered in the Department of Design + Art (Essential Foundations courses may not double count).
Essential Art History: 8 Credit Hours
Cognates: 13 Credit Hours
Total for Major: 60 Credit Hours
Liberal Arts: 28 Credit Hours
General Electives: 32 Credit Hours
Total for Degree: 120 Credit Hours
Other Requirements
- Minimum of 6 credit hours in DES classes must be at the 300-400 level.
- All Art BA students must successfully complete the Sophomore Critique process beginning in the sophomore year.
- All Art BA students must complete the Junior Critique process beginning in the junior year.
- All Art BA students must participate in a senior exhibition with an oral defense.
- All Art BA students must present a professional arts portfolio at the senior level.
- All Art BA majors must earn a grade of “C-” or better in all DES courses.
- Any student wishing to continue in sequential DES courses must have earned a grade of “C-” or better in all designated prerequisites.
