NUR 254 Fundamental Foundations for Nursing Practice


6 credit hours

This course provides an opportunity to integrate concepts and theories central to both the art and science of nursing. Dependent, independent, and interdependent functions of the nurse are explored for individuals across the lifespan using a nursing process format. Concepts related to physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual health needs are integrated as well as an exploration of the legal and ethical roles of the professional nurse. Basic tenets of effective communication are explored and opportunities for interpersonal interactions using therapeutic communication are provided. This course requires an off campus clinical learning experience.

Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in NUR 104 Introduction to the Profession of Nursing  and NUR 234 Nursing Health Assessment
