MAT 149 Problem Solving


3 credit hours

This course is designed to help teacher candidates develop their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will learn how to approach, analyze, and solve various types of mathematical problems, such as logic puzzles, word problems, algebraic equations, and more. Students will also learn how to use different strategies, tools, and techniques, such as guess and check, working backwards, drawing diagrams, using variables, finding patterns, applying formulas, and more. Students will also learn how to communicate their solutions clearly and effectively. Students will be expected to participate actively in class and work collaboratively with their peers. The course is suitable for students of any major who want to improve their mathematical problem-solving skills and confidence.
